At the end of March going into April people all over the world come to Washington, DC to view the sea of pink and white blossoms of the cherry trees in full bloom! This is one of the year’s more anticipated events that marks the return of warm weather temperatures in the DMV.

The festival commemorates Japan’s historical gift to DC of Yoshino cherry trees that were planted around the Tidal Basin. The cherry blossoms distinctive short life span is what makes it so magical. You only get to witness the cherished spectacle for a moment before it is gone.
