Hillsboro is a small town with a rich history. During the 18th and 17th centuries the community was the site of a number of mills that processed lumber, flour and wool. It is located right before the Hillsboro Gap. As it’s name may suggest, the community’s terrain is hilly in nature, reflective of its proximity to the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Hillsboro has maintained charmed. There are several small shops in the town. B&Bs, farms, and wineries are also located nearby.
Hillsboro hosts the Wine Country Half Marathon every year. Not only is it a half marathon it is complimented with wine, food and entertainment so more than just runners can come out an enjoy.
A main attraction of Hillsboro is the Old Stone School, which was built in 1917. It was used to teach grades one through seven and is know the community bandstand where local orchestras come out to entertain.
Route 9/Charles Town Pike runs directly through Hillsboro.
