Ashburn

Ashburn is located west of Washington, D.C., just beyond Sterling. The community is part of Northern Virginia’s well-developed tech corridor that stretches from Reston to Leesburg. Ashburn’s substantial growth has been bolstered by the presence of a range of telecommunications, IT and Internet service companies.

Before reaching its current state, Ashburn resembles many of the other communities found in Loudoun County. Farmland was in abundance and Ashburn was home to a number of large-acre estates. The community’s name is said to have been taken from Ashburn Farm. Today, Ashburn Farm is one of many subdivisions that can be found in Ashburn.

Quality of Life:

Ashburn is a medium-sized community with a large number of recently built townhomes and single-family residences. The car is king in Ashburn although that may change with the arrival of the planned Silver Line metro in 2016.

Proximity to Dulles International Airport is a luxury many in Northern Virginia are not afforded. Ashburn offers a contemporary environment with all the conveniences to fit, which includes excellent shopping opportunities and several golf courses. If you will be working in Reston, Herndon or Tysons Corner, then Ashburn is an excellent place to stake a claim.

The two major thoroughfares that service Ashburn are Route 7 and the Dulles Greenway. While the second phase of the Silver Line metro will not be completed until 2016, there is a Loudoun Commuter Bus with direct service to the West Falls Church metro station.
