Germantown

Located approximately 25 miles outside of Washington, D.C. Germantown is the third largest community in Maryland behind Baltimore and Columbia. In the 1950s, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission was relocated from downtown Washington to Germantown. Today, Germantown is home to an administration complex for the U.S. Department of Energy and the Office of Biological and Environmental Research.
