Chevy Chase, D.C. was developed in conjunction with Chevy Chase, M.D. Both were part of the vision shared by Senator Francis Newlands and William Stewart, who foresaw the future value of land northwest of the nation’s Capitol. From farmland to suburb, the electric streetcar bolstered and encouraged the evolution of Chevy Chase, D.C. and beyond. Today, the community strikes a balance between capitol delights and suburban serenity, reaffirming the original intentions of its planners.
